About Me
Hi! My name is Ashley Hatfield and I help people overcome mental health challenges by sharing my expertise and lived experienced. I encourage conventional therapy, medication and daily wellness practices along with building a faith-filled life. While my Christian faith has been a big factor in my own healing, I understand that we’re all on different spiritual paths. Therefore, I am happy to talk as much or as little about faith depending on your comfort level and the comfort level of your community.
I am currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Religion with a Concentration in Christian Counseling and a Minor in Psychology from Liberty University. I also have a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from Emerson College. And I am a certified Life Coach through the Transformation Academy and a certified Holistic Health Coach through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition.
I have worked hard through CBT, DBT, and my own studying to overcome my struggles with Bipolar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, OCD, and Complex PTSD. I also suffered from Postpartum Depression and Psychosis after the birth of my second child. In addition to therapy and medication, I have committed myself to lifestyle changes that reduce the symptoms of my mental illnesses, including: getting sober, regular exercise, intentional relaxation, removing negative influences in my life, seeking out and nurturing positive relationships, learning to set and enforce boundaries, and building a life full of purpose.
The most significant life event for me was becoming a Born-Again Christian at the age of 26. I have built so much confidence and self-love through my faith journey by learning that God loves me, covers me in His grace, and has a purpose for my pain. My relationship with God has taught me that everything I have suffered – and everything I have done to heal from my suffering – has brought me into a position of being able to help others.
I want to use my testimony and knowledge to show people that they can overcome any obstacle and live the life of their dreams. A mental health challenge is not a death sentence, it is simply an obstacle to overcome. No matter your suffering, there is still so much life left to live! I have suffered abuse, sexual assaults, multiple traumatic events, and very severe mental illnesses. But, through hard work and faith, I have built a beautiful life full of love, purpose, and genuine happiness.
I would love the opportunity to work with you by giving a motivational speech to your organization or community, writing for your audience, or doing a workshop to help your community set and achieve their individual goals. It’s time to stop tripping over your mental health hurdles and start leaping over them! And I can help you do just that.
Lots of Love,
Ashley
